The cut-off that catches people
The building admits visitors until 20:00 and the box office closes at 19:00. In late summer that gap is deceptive: the light is still good, the square is busy, and people walk up at 19:30 to find there is nothing to buy. If your day is running late, buy earlier and come back — a ticket bought at 17:00 is not a slot reservation, so nothing is lost by holding it.
The second trap is the prayer pause. Five times a day the visitor flow stops, and Friday midday is the longest of them. The day's times are published by Diyanet and repeated on mosque etiquette.
Is the ₺300 fast-track worth it?
It buys about $6.20 of queue. Between 10:00 and 13:00, when three or four coaches unload at once, that is a good trade. Before 10:00 and after 18:00 there is often no queue to skip and the add-on buys nothing.
